In The Area
Arlington, once the capitol of Vermont, offers visitors a bit of history and gorgeous scenery- including covered bridges and some easy ambling about the villiage. It's tree-lined main street is reminiscent of a Norman Rockwell painting. The artist lived in Arlington during the years he created those nostalgic covers for The Saturday Evening Post. Sitting right on that historic main street is the classic Greek Revival Arlington Inn, built in 1847 as the private home of Martin Chester Deming. This Villiage Estate first opened it's doors to welcome guests in the 1920's. A quiet villiage, Arlington is between Manchester and Bennington and convinient to the diversions that each season has to offer. Walk to swimming and fishing on the Battenkill River, one of the most famous fly-fishing rivers in America. Nearby you can enjoy shopping, theater, museums, golfing, antiquing, hiking, canoeing, biking, horseback riding, snowboarding, cross-country and downhill skiing.
